The kids that I met in the second section ranged in age from 14 to 17. Their English was pretty good, but there were a couple of kids who couldn't speak English at all, so rather than having other kids translate for them, which wouldn't have helped them at all if they always relied on the translation, we had them work with Virginia, who is a first grade teacher and truly is great with kids. We had set up a third session for adults, from 11:00 to 12:00, but we realized that most adults are working about this time or taking care of things, so we ended up cutting that section and we are starting to go down to the big area past our gate where a lot of adults hang out at 7:00. We learned that is when many adults get off work.
That is the the general picture of our teaching day. I'm looking forward to teaching and learning more tomorrow!
